National Day Challenge

The thing with using blog app is that sometimes the format doesn't come online as I want it to, or it just doesn't post when the connection doesn't allow.  It does contribute to me being a frustrated blogger, but not a frustrated scrapper.

Still, having a smart phone is the best, because it allows me to go Pinterest and Facebook... both of which I spend a lot of time on when I am not able to do scrapping.

Here's something I absolutely need to do on desktop,  which is Print Screen.

This collage of 9 layouts is taken off my Facebook where I ran a challenge in the scrapbook group that I teach.  The theme was National Day and a rough sketch was given as a guide.  Mine was fairly close to the sketch so you can look at theirs and see how creatively they have utilised the sketch to come out with a number of configurations :)

For this layout I again utilised my typewriter, which I will introduce one day after I give it a through clean up. Instead of using it to type words or journalling like usual use, I used it to make the background you see on that little scallop ledging that the photos stand on.  It says "I LOVE SINGAPORE" in red, and I typed it on white textured cardstock for that slightly uneven ink feed.  I then punched it out with the MS ledger edge punch and finished the corner to give that rounded look.

I realised I like masking, and used my inks and mask to give some color and depth to my Pink Paislee Nantucket paper (for some reason I love the line sketched flowers design) and finished off the edges with thin pink Washi Tape.

Materials :Pink Paislee - background paper and mask,, Cardstock - Bazill, DCVW, Stamp - doily from MME, Trims and cardstock orchid from Papermarket, washi tape and dewdrops.

World Happy Day

Some time jn Feb, Ms E joined daddy for his company fundraiser activity in Singapore's shopping belt to raise money for Operation Smile, a charity work by surgeons to correct cleft lips for children all around the world. It was a meaningful activity for her and she learned to pluck up her courage to speak to adults to ask them to donate towards the cause.

One photo was taken by BY's colleague and given to us, so I simply had to inmortalise the day she went for her first social cause. This MME paper was just perfect... ❤

Follow your heart .

Treasure 2012

Being still in 2012 and starting a Chinese New Year, we went around paying respects to our families on both sides (husband and mine).  While waiting for the other sisters to arrive, hubby took a photo of me with the girls.  It's my first one, if I'm not wrong.  If it's not, it's my favourite.  I decided to put into a layout and remind myself of all the coming milestones they will have and to remember to look out for them.

BbC started her playgroup this week and it was a up/down week for her and us as she attended the 2 hour playgroup daily.  I spent a lot of time with her as I took the whole week off.  Thankful for the week off as ms E also fell ill on Monday afternoon so I was around to nurse her.  Now both are recovering and I am sleepy... back to work next week.

Still, have a Happy Chinese New Year all! It's still within the 15 days ! :)

Materials : Paper - DCVW, Bazill kraft, MME kraft; Flowers - Prima & K&Co; Leaves - Prima; Alphabet Thickers; Maya stamp, pin, button ; Pink Paislee mask; buttons

Mini for Mummy

It's been a long time since my last post as I had been busy and couldn't find time to take photo when it was not raining. Finally I managed to catch some golden sun today after so many days of afternoon rain, so I quickly had this mini album photographed and tonight I get some moments to blog about it.

I had been altering things and making scrap stuff here and there for people and thought I should make something for my mom. So I set about choosing photos (the hardest part as there are so many!) and defining the moments before putting them into this little album. There are never enough pages for books like this, I'd say!

Here are the pictures.  I love this album because, again, it has lots of experimental stuff that I tried and I find that it is like an archive of both memories and progress.  Ms E loves the book because she would take the book and flip almost every night.

I won't show all the pages, but here are some that I would like to show.

Materials : Album - Me & My Big Ideas; Papers - Prima Annalee; Stamps - Fiskars, Purple Onion;  Embellishments - Making Memories, K&Co, Joann.com, Tim Holtz, Ribbons, Handmade flowers, Basic Grey, KCK, Glitz Girls.

All you need is Love

My Ms E went to attend a class with her godma, Diana at the PM.  Don't know who was more ambitious, PM for offering the class to kids, or us.  Anyway, she managed to complete two layouts over the many days after the class with a little bit of assistance from me.  We tried to put together with the photos and she said something to the effect of , 'Mum, why do we need to follow? Let's do it my way'. tada! So it hit me that, yes I should let her complete it her way with her 20% modifications..

So here's her layouts, from 5 year old Ms E.
